Tangy passionberry kombucha martinis that are mixed with a healthy alternative instead of sugar-loaded fruit juices or soda. You don’t have to feel guilty about having a few cocktails when they’re made with Kombucha!
So I recently tried Kombucha for the first time!
I know, where have I been? What have I been doing with my life? Have I been living under a rock?
How have I not tried Kombucha until now???
I honestly thought it was just a fad that would pass, but I kept hearing about it. When I first tried it, I still wasn’t sure exactly what it was. Was it tea? Does it have alcohol in it? How can tea be fermented? Will it taste gross?
What Does Kombucha Taste Like?
I was blown away! Kombucha tastes like a bubbly sweet tea that’s loaded with gut-loving probiotics, immune system boosting bacterias and a multitude of other health benefits.
When I say it’s bubbly I mean SUPER bubbly. Like don’t shake it right before you open it, you’ll regret it. Really, don’t do it. Trust me, I learned the hard way.
After I drank it, I instantly felt energized without having the dreaded caffeine crash I usually have to pull myself out of around 3pm. I’m sure you know the feeling I’m talking about. I was hooked and I wanted to try all the flavors!
I found this Kombucha at my local health food store. There were lots of flavors to choose from but I was drawn to the mango and passionberry varieties right away. I love mango flavored everything but I didn’t know what a passionberry was so I just had to try it.
The color looked blackberry-ish and surprise surprise it has blackberry juice in it. It also has passionfruit juice, so I guess that’s where the passionberry name comes from by joining blackberry and passionfruit together.
The passionberry kombucha is so delicious by itself, but as soon as I took the first sip, passionberry martinis popped into my mind. I pictured myself drinking passionberry martinis while watching The Bachelor, or floating on my raft in the pool reading Game of Thrones. Sounds dreamy, doesn’t it?
[tweetthis]#Kombucha #martinis are much better for you than sugar-loaded fruit juice or soda mixed drinks![/tweetthis]
Why I Love Drinking Kombucha Martinis
I usually stick with drinking wine because I don’t like soda or super sweet fruit juice mixers that most people use to make drinks. Drinking soda is like drinking straight chemicals, and fruit juices are loaded with sugar that just give me a headache and make me feel hungover in the morning.
Passionberry kombucha to the rescue!
Kombucha martinis are not overly sweet, and I like knowing that I’m drinking something that not only tastes delicious but also is good for my body. Having a few drinks doesn’t have to be a guilty pleasure when you mix it with kombucha.
What Should You Mix It With?
I tested mixing it with tequila, rum, and vodka. All three were good but the rum and vodka versions were my favorite but really you can’t go wrong with any of them.
Now you can have a few kombucha martinis and not feel guilty at all! Using kombucha as a mixer is such a better option than soda or juice. I wouldn’t go so far as to call this a healthy cocktail, but it’s 100x better than anything you’ll find at the bar.
So pick a series to binge watch on Netflix, invite your girls over, make some kombucha martinis and get ready for a fun night!
Kombucha Passionberry Martini
- 4 oz passionberry Kombucha chilled
- 1 1/2 oz rum or vodka
- 1/2 oz orange juice
- 1 oz Cointreau
- 1 small orange, sliced
- Pour chilled kombucha, rum (or vodka), orange juice and Cointreau into the shaker, stir to combine. Don't shake it or the kombucha will fizz and bubble causing the top to pop off and you'll have a mess.
- Take an orange slice and run it around the lip of the glass to give it an orange flavor. Slowly pour the shaker into the martini glass, it will be super fizzy.
- Garnish with an orange slice.
