Our favorite classic margaritas recipe with a spicy ginger kick for Christmas! Easy way to garnish your drink to make it extra festive!
Only two more sleeps until Christmas! How can that be?? I just want to rewind the clock about two weeks, so I can enjoy the season a little bit longer. Don’t you? I have a last-minute holiday drink recipe for you that will spice up your life!
We’re furiously trying to get everything done over here but we did make time to relax and watch a few of our favorite Christmas movies. Travis always insists that we wait until the last week before Christmas to watch certain movies like Home Alone or The Santa Claus. Christmas Vacation is another one of our favorites that we watch while we’re decorating the Christmas tree and then again right before Christmas.
Of course you need a festive drink to enjoy while you watch a holiday classic! We love margaritas and this is our favorite base recipe to make at home. Regular old margaritas don’t seem Christmassy though, do they? Nope. Nope. Nope. You gotta jazz them up to make them festive!
Have you ever tried a ginger chew before? They’ll take your breath away so be careful, don’t go popping 5-6 in your mouth at once! Travis learned that the hard way. They can be pretty spicy but we like snacking on them.
They look like sparkly golden sugar cubes so I thought they would be a pretty garnish and after drink treat. Who wouldn’t want a boozy soaked little snack after you finish the drink?
- 2 oz fresh lime juice
- ½ oz orange juice
- ½ oz agave
- ¾ oz triple sec
- 1½ oz tequila (I used Reposado)
- 3 ginger chews
- 5-6 fresh cranberries
- 1 small rosemary sprig
- **Note** - These ingredient measurements are for 1 drink only!
- Salt or sugar the rim of your glass, fill with ice and add 2 ginger chews and a few cranberries.
- Add lime juice, tequila, triple sec, orange juice and agave to shaker, shake vigorously. Pour over ice, top with a few more cranberries, rosemary sprig and the last ginger chew on the rim.
- Enjoy immediately!
You have to have a little bit of red thrown in to give it a Christmas vibe, so I added some fresh cranberries too. The rosemary sprig garnish is just for fun, I though it looked like a little Christmas tree or it could be a stir if you don’t want a straw.
These cranberry ginger Christmas margaritas would also be great for a holiday party. Just freeze the ginger chews ahead of time and have your cranberries and rosemary sprigs washed and ready to go with a pitcher of your margarita mix. A fun garnish can make any drink look festive!
I hope you enjoy your drinks and have a fun-filled Christmas celebration!
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!
