We started celebrating Valentine’s day early this year by attending the Clearwater Beach Uncorked food & wine event. Lots of food, wine and fun for everyone. I highly recommend it and we can’t wait to go again next year!
On Sunday, we attended the Clearwater Beach Uncorked food & wine event. We had a blast! It was so much fun and it really kicked off our Valentine’s day celebrations. Travis and I don’t normally have days off together so it was really nice to be at the beach and just hang out together all day.
We were worried that there would be a ton of traffic going over the bridge to Clearwater Beach, so we left our house around 11am to make sure we would have enough time to make it for the VIP lounge at 12pm. I think we got lucky that the Superbowl happened to be on the same day so most people were probably at home and not on their way to the beach. So, if you go next year, make sure you give yourself ample time to get there in case of traffic.
We found some free parking spots and walked down the strip to Pier 60. It was chilly and really windy, which I loved! So much better than getting hot and sweaty on your way to a fun event.
Yesterday was rainy and dreary all day– so we got really lucky with the fabulous weather!
We checked in, got our wristbands, and headed over to the VIP lounge which we were really excited to check out.
When we walked in they gave us a gift bag with a wine glass to use for the day along with a few other goodies. I’m glad they gave us a tote because we were given quite a few freebies and samples during the event.
VIP Lounge at Clearwater Beach Uncorked
The VIP lounge was located in a separate tent next to the main tent that had food, dessert and wine booths set up around a bunch of big comfy white couches. I would definitely recommend upgrading your ticket to the VIP level, it was an awesome way to start the day! We especially loved the champagne bar and mini dessert table! ?
We headed over to the main tent when it opened at 1pm. I thought it was going to be much more packed than it was. The event was completely sold out, but the tent was large and I never felt crowded or like they were just packing the people in. I felt it was very well-managed and laid out. The lines weren’t long and we didn’t wait longer than five minutes for any of the booths.
Food & Drinks at Clearwater Beach Uncorked
The food and drink booths lined both sides and down the center of the tent. At the opposite end of the tent, they were serving hot sliders– yum! Shepard’s had a dj booth set up on one side and was playing music the whole time. By the end of the event a lot of people were dancing the day away in the center of the tent, us included! ?
I was impressed with the selection of food and drinks that were offered by many local restaurants, wineries and breweries. At the beginning of the center row, the Shor Grill restaurant had a huge pan set up that was full of seafood that they were cooking right there. I don’t eat shrimp so I didn’t try it, but Travis did and he loved it!
They had something for everyone– seafood, sliders, chips and salsa, hummus, flank steak, grilled cheese sandwiches, desserts, beer and wine. We tried everything and even got seconds and a few thirds of our favorite tastes!
Our top favorite bites —>
- Flank steak from Watercolour Grill House
- Donut grilled cheese & flying pig grilled cheese from Tom + Chee
- Mü macchiato mudslides
I would say the Tom + Chee grilled cheese booth was one of the most popular. They were making the grilled cheese sandwiches on hot griddles right there– the smell wafting from their booth stopped people in their tracks!
It was definitely one of our favorites and we waited in line 3 times so we could try all 3 varieties of the sandwiches they were making. They served regular grilled cheese with tomato, a pulled pork grilled cheese and my favorite- the donut grilled cheese. ?
There was plenty of wine and beer to go around. Some booths gave small pours while others gave almost a full glass. If you really liked the sample I heard some people asking for a full glass. I didn’t ask for a full pour because I wanted to try everything and I think I got to all of the wine stations! My favorite wine was the Cabernet at the Coopers Hawk booth. Not too dry, a little fruity and absolutely delicious!
Travis tried a few of the wine samples too but he really enjoyed all the local beer companies that were there– especially the 3 daughter’s brewing company from St. Petersburg, Florida.
Overall, we had such a fun day at the Clearwater Beach Uncorked event. I highly recommend it and we’ll definitely be going next year! We stopped at Frenchy’s on the way home for a night-cap, and still made it home in time for Travis to watch the Super Bowl.
